That blue and white shield emblem near the ‘license plate’ was on the front-end, too. What the hell is this thing? Sorta reminds me of an old Volkswagen?

I think it’s a 1970s G wagon.

It’s a G Wagen or version thereof.
To be exact, it’s a military spec one. They’re used by many armies.

I think they were military vehicles at one point and the design hasn’t changed since then.

The body line along the side and the turn signal on the top is what sold me on it.

Probably an old G-wagon, they used to be made by steyr-puch, if I’m not mistaken, which I could be.

Steyr Puch G Wagon?

Someone here corrected me a while back - designed for the Australian army, not Austrian as I thought. And overdesigned. And just silly.

They’re still made by Puch. Just badged as Mercedes in most markets.

I thought for some reason that Mercedes had taken production over
![]() 04/27/2016 at 15:34 |

Yup. Old G wagon-1970's era but Military Version.

Mercedes would probably like people to think that, but they’re still rolling out of an old moped factory in Austria.

I must have been thinking of the X3, originally they were made by Steyr, until they converted moved production to South Carolina.

yeah definitely a G! That long trim piece above the wheel arches is a dead giveaway, it’s still around lol:
